Its 1959. Elvis is in the Army and the Beatles are years away from their first Top Twenty hit. Americas young girls are longing for a new teen idol to fill their dreams. Ray Sharkey is superb as in the title role of a singer/songwriter Vinnie Vacarri, the man with the moves, the songs, the voice and the know how to become a star. What he doesnt have is a face thatll make teenage girls swoon. But Vinnie has a plan. If he cant become the next teen idol, then hell find the right face to play the part. Setting his sight on two awkward teens (Land and Gallagher) - each short on talent but long on looks - Vinnie transforms them into overnight singing sensations. But fashioning his creations was the easy part, its his ability to control them that will determine the ultimate success - or failure - of the idolmaker.
