Based on the modern novel by noted author John Hawkes, Bohemian couple Cyril and Fiona (Charles Dance and Sheryl Lee) travel to a remote location to escape the convention of middle class morality. Committed to the notion of open marriage. They find themselves attracted to Catherine (Laila Robins) and Hugh (Colin Lane) recent arrivals who move into the villa next door. But as the four interlocking characters pursue the secual idyll, what proves to be liberating for some, is inevitably destructive to others.
