This true story of the real Dracula was actually filmed in Transylvania, location of the story of both the fictional and historical figures of Dracula.Producer-director Calvin Floyd was responsible for researching much unique historical material about the subject when he encountered writers McNally and Florescu in Transylvania researching the same subject for a book. Floyd and the authors agreed to share their resources. The best-selling book and the film were made at the same time. Yes, there really was a Dracula. The legend of Count Dracula, the vampire who spent in a coffin by day and sunk his teets into pretty, young necks by night, is based on a real person. He was like a vampire, responsible for torturing and killing at least 10000 people, usually by impaling his victims on sharp spikes. Like the living corpse Dracula, immortalized in Bram Stokers novel, the real Dracula lived in a musty, mountaintop castle from which he terrorized the surrounding countryside. The real castle is shown for the first time, as well as the Brogo Pass, the entrance to the castle. Also shown are vampire bats dringing real blood and vampire exorcism rites. The bizarre connection of Dracula and Frankenstein and how they link together is also revealed. Christopher Lee appears in a role he is famous for - Count Dracula, as well as the historical Prince Vlad Tepes Dracula, as he tells the story that weaves historical fact, movie history and literary characters together into one sinister theme.
