The story of Bhola, an innocent boy and his younger sister Belu who are
abandoned and living in the slums. Kamala Chachi gives them shleter in
her run down shack and teaches them how to beg, but also abuses and beats
them. Their saviour comes in the form of John, an old bootlegger who
believes the children should not beg and so they stop. But they fail to
bring home any money, Kamala throws them out and Bhola is faced with a
dilemma as he has vowed never to let his sister starve.
