This Studio Ghibli. production was based on the manga by Aoi Hiiragi, and the story developed by Hayao Miyazaki based on the comic series. A young girl named Shizuku Tsukishima finds out that all the books she wants to check out from the library have been previously checked out by the boy named Seiji Amasawa who aspires to become a violin maker. There's no big actions or fantastical elements as in most other Ghibli/Miyazaki movies, but the charm of this film is the depiction of daily life, as the scenes from convenient stores or fast food shops. John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" (and its variations/parodies) are used quite effectively in the show.
