The Katakuris have opened a guesthouse in the mountains near the famous resort town, Karuizawa. After several weeks without a visitor, they receive their first guest in the middle of a stormy night. The guest is extremely depressed, and kills himself in his room. The Katakuris do not want the bad publicity, and decide to bury the body in the woods next to the house.
With each guest that arrives to stay, the Katakuris find themselves with a new body to bury, as everyone dies upon checking into their room. To their horror, the Katakuris realize that the predictions of a passing psychic were correct. But they still have a little spring left in their step and a tune to whistle, and they vow to find happiness one way or another - as long as the guests still pay for their room.
