When Marian was a young boy, he was taken away from his mother by the court, who deemed her unfit to care for him. Marian grows up wild and rebellious in a hostile world which is indifferent to him, and he graduates from orphanage to correctional facility, and eventually finds himself in prison. He puts his hope in the few he befriends along the way, but is unable to create a long lasting relationship. Marian realizes that he is in the grip of a vicious cycle, and as he begins to understand his own fate, he tries to find a way to break it.
