Leonard is a serial killer who is documenting his "life story" by keeping a scrapbook of his many victims. He has forced his victims to personally write in the scrapbook about their individual ordeals. When Leonard abducts Clara, she too must add her agony to the pages. She is beaten, raped, starved, and locked up like an animal, filthy and naked. Clara's only hope for survival is to communicate with Leonard through her writings in his cherished scrapbook.
