Infernal Affairs:
The setting is the never-ending war between the police and the triads of Hong Kong. Chan is a cop who's been assigned to undercover work inside the triads for so long that he's been able to rise thought the ranks to a position of some authority. Lau, meanwhile, is a secret member of the triads who has infiltrated the police force with an equal level of success. As they feed their bosses information on the plans and counter-plans of the organizations they pretend to serve, they both begin to feel the stresses of their double lives.
Infernal Affairs 2:
The prequel to the international sensation Infernal Affairs, which was the recently remade into the North American smash-hit The Departed, Infernal Affairs 2 follows Chen Ying Yan as he becomes an undercover cop in the triads while Lau Kin Ming joins the police force. Both the triads and the police find an enemy in a rival crime boss.
Infernal Affairs 3:
The final film in the Infernal Affairs Trilogy, Infernal Affairs 3 begins ten months after the first film. Ming is relegated to the backseat of mundane office work, pending internal investigation. Meanwhile, a new star, Yeung, has emerged in the police force. His meteoric rise mirrors Ming's very own before Yan's death. Suspecting that Yeung could be a mole for the triads just like he once was, Ming begins to investigate Yeung's background.
