Jai and Veeru are two small time crooks who, in the past, have caused trouble for Thakur Singh. When Gabbar Singh and his violent gang wreak havoc on Thakur's town, they maim Thakur, and kill the rest of his family. Now helpless, Thakur calls in Jai and Veeru to fight the tyranny of Gabbar Singh. Thakur knows that despite their criminal ways, Jai and Veeru have good hearts, and they do indeed come to his aid. As Jai and Veeru fight violence with more violence, and begin to find romance and redemption, the rest of the community begins to stand up to the terror in their own nonviolent ways.
