This is probably the most contestable film among Kurosawa's works. Toshiro Mifune portrays an old man who is struck with an overwhelming fear of radioactivity from the Atomic and Hydrogen bombs. He is determined to migrate to Brazil to seek refuge. He is finally sent to an asylum in which he thinks he witnesses the earth burning to ashes.
