While spear-fishing off the rocky beach of Kauai, 12-year-old Booton MacAvoy makes a fearful discovery. What he has mistaken for a fish is a man, floating half-submerged in the churning sea.
The rescued stranger turns out to be Lincoln Costain (James Garner), a shanghaied Texas cowpoke who jumps ship in Hawaii and lands boots-first in island intrigue and adventure! Costain and Henrietta MacAvoy (Vera Miles) team up to turn a scrubby potato plantation into the island's first cattle spread.
First, Costain must outwit the treacherous local witch doctor, turn a bunch of happy-go-lucky islanders into hard-riding cowhands, head off a disastrous midnight stampede, and confront Henrietta's underhanded would-be suitor (Robert Culp). A rip-roaring, hard-riding adventure for the whole family to enjoy.
