Available together just in time for Father's Day, along with the Classic Western Round-Up: Volume 1, this must-own collection includes The Texans, California, Cimarron Kid and The Man from the Alamo.
The Texans: This classic Western blazes with explosive shootouts, brawls, and side-splitting humour. Following the Civil War, former rebel soldier Kirk Jordan is fighting a new battle: to make a living in the hostile atmosphere that greets all ex-Confederates. But after he meets the beautiful, independent Ivy Preston, Kirk hits upon a bold plan. He'll lead her family's herd of 10,000 cattle to the just-completed railroad in Abilene, Texas. In hot pursuit is the evil administrator Middlebrack, who is determined to stop them at all costs. And Kirk must make a crucial decision: Will he blaze a trail to bring his country back together, or will he join Ivy in her dangerous scheme to re-ignite the War Between the States?
California: "Wicked" Lily Bishop joins a wagon train to California, led by Michael Fabian and Johnny Trumbo, but news of the Gold Rush scatters the train. When Johnny and Michael finally arrive, Lily is rich from her saloon and storekeeper (former slaver) Pharaoh Coffin is bleeding the miners dry. But worse troubles are ahead: California is inching toward statehood, and certain people want to make it their private empire.
Cimarron Kid: Wrongly accused by crooked railroad officials of aiding a train heist by his old friends the Daltons, Bill Doolin (aka the Cimarron Kid) joins their gang and becomes an active participant in other robberies. Betrayed by a fellow gang member, the Cimarron Kid becomes a fugitive in the end. Seeking refuge at the ranch of a reformed gang member, he hopes to flee with the man's daughter to South America, but he's captured in the end and led off to jail. But will the girl promise to wait for him?
The Man From the Alamo: In this double-barred classic, John Stroud is a freedom fighter who agrees to leave his post at the Alamo so he can warn his family and neighbours of approaching Mexican armies. When he discovers he’s too late, he swears vengeance on the Yankee mercenaries who, fighting for Mexico, have murdered his wife and child. At the same time, Stroud must face the accusations of his outraged countrymen, who believe he fled his post in an act of cowardice. Only by confronting the enemy can he redeem himself in his fellow citizens’ eyes – and in his own.
